Kicks for a Cause: Charity Soccer Tournament Results

On April 28, 2007, fifteen 5-person soccer teams competed at UCSD's Warren Field to help raise funds and awareness for Africa Aid's School Lunch Program (SLP) in the Buduburam Liberian Refugee Settlement in Ghana, Africa. Congratulations to "Team Fun" (center) who placed first in the inaugural tournament!

Proceeds raised at the charity soccer tournament were sufficient to fund an entire month of the SLP, feeding over 200 refugee children a nutritious daily meal and providing the necessary incentive to attend school.

Africa Aid School Lunch Program (SLP) to Begin Second Year

The second year of the School Lunch Program (SLP) begins September 2007, providing 203 refugee children with a nutritious daily meal for the entire 10-month school year.

Africa Aid will also introduce a seminar class at the University of California, San Diego this Winter to foster curriculum development in an academic environment. Students and faculty will spend one academic quarter developing and evaluating a health and nutrition curriculum that will supplement each SLP meal in Africa.

Help us fund raise for the second year of the School Lunch Program, buy a portion of the project, make a tax-deductible donation, or buy an Africa Aid t-shirt online.
