University Designed Projects

Africa Aid works with students in UC San Diego's Education Abroad Program (EAP) in Ghana to provide students with a hands-on humanitarian aid experience that allows them to make a tangible difference during their study abroad stay.

University Student Organizations: Creating a Web of Educational Support

University Student Organizations will connect with local high schools and elementary schools to engage young minds in Africa Aid’s community and fundraising efforts. With the direction of University mentors, high school students will establish a pen pal program between San Diego elementary school students and young children in the Buduburam Refugee Settlement.

International Aid Organizations

University Student Organizations will connect with local high schools and elementary schools to engage young minds in Africa Aid's community and fundraising efforts. University student mentors will help to establish an Internet Pen Pal program between San Diego elementary school students and young children in the Buduburam Refugee Settlement.

Africa Aid also partners with local San Diego nonprofit organizations such as Bridge for Africa and Invisible Children to unite San Diego-based organizations that are fighting for African poverty relief.

With program development from Universities and aid organizations, mutually beneficial partnerships are forged that have access to key resources such as:

  • Volunteer Networks
  • Relationships with Local Grassroots Organizations
  • Communication Channels
  • Donor Networks

Public and Private Sectors

The last critical element in the Africa Aid model is the involvement of domestic community partners from both the public and private sectors. Africa Aid works with university and nonprofit partners to identify local for-profit companies and government entities that closely align with the focus of each sector-specific project. Corporate partners are selected based on an extensive audit of their corporate goals and philanthropic identity.

The Africa Aid model provides an innovative and highly beneficial way for public and private sector partners to invest in a focused African development programs while simultaneously investing in their local community. By supporting multi-disciplinary educational programs at local universities, companies and government entities can ensure that university graduates are entering the work force with real world skills that many university curricula do not provide.
